Vasco Silva de Faria

Vasco Silva de Faria (born October 18th 1978) is a Trumpet player, Teacher, Conductor, and Artistic Manager. He holds a Master Degree from the University of Minho (Distinction) and currently attends a research course leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Music Performance at the University of Évora. He studied with Kevin Wauldron, Stephen Mason and Pierre Dutot as well as Maurice André, Philip Smith and Hakan Hardenberger. Since 2007, he is the 1st Trumpet in the Orchestra of the University of Minho. Teaching and performing experience includes countries as Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, France, Germany and Poland.

As a conductor, he leaded internationally renowned soloists such as Pierre Dutot, Vintage Quartet, Iva Barbosa, Bruno Flahou, Thierry Thibault and Luís Pipa. As Artistic Manager, he serves at Pevidém Musical Society since 2007.. Vasco Silva de Faria currently teaches and heads both the wind band and the brass departments at Music Academy Valentim Moreira de Sá in Guimaraes and at the University of Minho (Invited Senior Lecturer).
