Fátima Pombo

PhD is a professor of Design Studies at Department of Comunicação e Arte at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. She was a guest professor at Department of Architecture at University of Leuven (KULeuven), Belgium for several years. She served the university in various capacities, namely Head of the Research Unit and Head of Design Course. Her research, publications and teaching focus on issues of phenomenology, design, interior architecture and aesthetics. She participates in international research projects (Erasmus+, and others) and conferences, international scientific boards, jury member of the iF Design Award (Germany),  publishes regularly in anthologies and peer-reviewed journals like among others Idea Journal, Architectoni.ca, Journal of Interior Design, The International Journal of Architectonic, Spatial and Environmental Design, Journal of British Society for Phenomenology. Das Coisas Belas e Desenhadas (From Beautiful and Designed Things) is her most recent book (February 2018).
She spent a sabbatical year at the University of Barcelona to research in Design; was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Munich with a grant from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and researched during 1993-1995 at the University of Heidelberg on the framework of her PhD.
