Fábio Fernandes

PhD in Mechanical Engineering, is a postdoctoral researcher at School of Design, Management and Production Technologies Northern Aveiro, University of Aveiro. He has experience in materials characterisation, Computer-aided Design/Engineering (CAD/CAE), finite element simulations of real world nonlinear problems and constitutive validation, from crashworthiness to injury biomechanics. In 2014, the work developed in his MSc dissertation entitled “Analysis of injuries resulting from impacts with motorcycle helmets” was awarded in the International Competition Future Ideas in the Industrial and Technology category. In 2017, received the scientific prize “Mário Quartin Graça” in the category Technology and Natural Science, due to his PhD thesis entitled “Biomechanical analysis of helmeted head impacts: novel materials and geometries”. The same thesis was awarded by Springer Theses – the “best of the best” prize. In the same year, this work was also awarded in the software category of the “O Melhor do Portugal Tecnológico” awards by Exame Informática.
