Manuel Rivas

He was born in Spain (09.04.1965) and from Viana do Castelo by option. An Undergraduate of architecture with a Master´s degree in Planning and Project of Urban Environment from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP).   With a DEA – Diploma of Advanced Studies –and a Doctoral degree in Architecture from the Superior School of Architecture of Corunã, under the title: “The Ephemeral Pavilions as a field of experimentation: four pavilions three architects”.

He periodically publishes diverse articles in national and international magazines in his speciality and regularly participates in national and international conferences.

Currently a professor occupying the position of coordinator of Superior Professional Technology Course in Urban Regeneration, member of the Course Committee in Urban and Environment Design as well as Masters of Integrated Design. He is an elected member of the Pedagogical committee representing the Master degree course in Integrated Design.

Since 2013 the coordinator of the Viana3D project, which is a project of intervention and analysis of the urban structure of the city of Viana do Castelo. It invests in three-dimensional technology, GIS tools, design and urbanism with the objective of promoting the municipality and the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo.
